Cache

Today I found my first Geocache ever. Nice thing: walking through the wood, over snow, finding the location. I got a little gimmick and gave one back.

caretaker in action

The caretaker is on the run again: SH3 ordered the caretaker for solving the "running toilet", that is exchanging the sealing. Also SH3 ordered the caretaker for hints arranging Davids two new rooms. Let's see, how the caretaker will manage these two new adventures!

cutting edge

I soldered a little electronic wiring to connect a FONera via the serial interface to the pc. All it does is balancing out the different voltage settings. After exchanging Rx and Tx it worked on Gregors PC. I hope, he has fun with it!

Testing grillage

Tested the grillage for the cug meeting. Great taste! But I will make some refinements to make it superb for all. Start collecting spittle is the command for all participants.

airbrushing

13 years ago I bought an airbrush system. In the meantime the company is gone. Even the colours. So I stirred up the old colours and tried if they are useful and what a surprise: They work! After 13 years! First I tested flat black on the moon surface of the Apollo landing module. Have a look:
Mondoberfläche
Then I tested flat white on Galileo, the USS Enterprise shuttle and it worked too:

And at last I tested the new acrylic colours with water as solution with "earth brown" on the tower building of a WW II airfield and it works perfect. Look:

modelling

After 13 years of abstinence I reactivated building kits as one of my hobbies. I started finishing some model kits I started to build in 1994. That means, I had to throw away a lot of enamel colours and buy new ones. I noticed, that there was a big evolution. The future will be no more enamel colours but acrylic colours with water as solution. That will make airbrushing easier; and cleaning brushes too. And the smell in the house is gone. But it's a new feeling and smelling. The modelling gives me balance and it calms down. You will see pictures soon.

Talent

Yesterday was my first contact with the new Talent-train. Here is my report:
Until now I do not like him very much, because:
The passage way in the middle is very wide, so the place for the chairs is very small.
The seats are very poky arranged.
There is no armrest in the middle of the chairs.
No sunshades are installed.
The air condition is very very loud.
Chris Lohner announces the station twice so sleeping is very disturbed.
The train is not faster than the 40 year old trains.
There is only one toilet in the train.
The train cannot be enlarged.
And now the poitiv things:
The toilet is very very large and some kind of spacy.
The looking of the train is very cool.
This all may be the reason that it is not in use in the morning, when there are a lot of commuter. I hope they do not take a museum-additional-cash for travelling in the morning with "historic" trains.

Funny shopping

I had to order a camera for a friend of mine, especially the Fuji E900. In all austrian shops it was sold out. Then I found it in Europe, in Paris. So I ordered the camera in Paris, and it should be here within 2 or 3 days. The world becomes a village!

first qso after 17 years and 6 month

As amateur radio operator you have to log each and every use of the frequencies. So I had a look at my log and saw my last entry at 14.10.1988. Today I tried for the first time to make a call, to see if my transmitter works. And it does. So after 17 years and 6 month I was on air again. Amazing, that batteries still are alive after recharging after that time. Unfortunately none of the person I know are radio amateurs. So I will see, what I will do with this.
For interested people: First I tried 3 Watt to reach the Patscherkofel relais OE7XTI. There were no problems. Then I tried 0,1 Watt to reach it, also no problems. That means: I can reach the Patscherkofel relais as I would use a small pocket lamp over this distance. And the Patscherkofel relais sends with 10 W the recieved signal. So it is no problem to talk to people from Kufstein to Landeck and sometimes Munich.
